WE'VE GOT THIS

The Arts Office commissioned Kilkenny based illustrator Audrey Dowling to produce a series of large-scale posters which will be displayed within community settings, i.e. in areas where people are choosing to walk, gather and stay connected whilst adhering to social distancing advice. The posters are designed to brighten people’s days and are filled with messages of reassurance, support and connection, connection to each other and to nature.  They are beautifully designed with a strong contemporary aesthetic, utilising quotes from poets and writers such as Emily Dickinson, William Wordsworth and Jane Austen and are very grounded in nature.

The posters are currently to be seen in Castlecomer Discovery Park, Graiguenamanagh playground, Callan playground, Thomastown Library, the City Library, Woodstock Gardens Inistioge, on the kiosk on the Parade in the city, and at three locations on the Ring road

The posters are been delightfully received by the public at large and we have received hugely positive feedback for this initiative.

At the same time the Arts Office commissioned a piece of street art by contemporary sign writer Vanessa Power to brighten up the hoarding by the river and near the Abbey Quarter development. This piece will serve a similar purpose to Audrey’s work, offering reassurance and support to our communities and reminding us of our collective strength.
